Taking care of your new Cocker Spaniel puppy

Purchase some Baby Pablum – rice. Give 2-3 tbsp with warm milk 1 cup, morning and at night. This can be discontinued after 1 package is used. Free choice puppy chow – we use dry Pedigree brand puppy chow mixed with water and they seem to do very well on it.

Once your puppy has established a routine he/she can be fed either morning or night. Do not let your puppy eat too much Cockers have a tendency to over eat and thus become very chubby. Have plenty of fresh water available.

Give your puppy a soft plush toy to snuggle and play with, also rawhide bones to chew on to save shoes and other objects.

Your puppy has been trained on paper so this is ok for now but he/she should be taught to go outside a. s. a. p.

For even more health/training information, visit the web page for the Cocker Spaniel Manual - The Definitive Guide, by Mary Lawson.

We recommend the Brandon Animal Clinic, the primary health care provider for our own dogs and puppies.
